On Job Searching

When it comes to the job search process, Sabrina is an expert. From etiquette techniques to tips and tricks, Sabrina not only talks the talk, but she also walks the walk. When speaking with students going through the job search process, Sabrina often encourages job seekers to be open to any and all opportunities. There are so many opportunities out there in various disciplines and fields that could be a great match. We know that you should never count something out until you try it (or at least learn more about it) and the job search is a great place to do just that. Perhaps you are an accounting student who really enjoys musical theatre. Check out administration jobs at theatre companies and non-profits focusing on the arts. There are always ways to mix and match your interests with your career goals so that the two can fit seamlessly together.

Sabrina knows that the job search is all about who you know. Networking is vital to a successful job search and you truly know more people than you think. Utilize your network, ask for help, and always make a good impression along the way. This not only makes the job search a more enjoyable experience, but it also helps keep it as short as possible.

On Advice

Sabrina’s advice is simple: it’s never too early to start looking and over-preparation doesn’t exist. So many students visit our office and feel like they are “late to the game.” Often, if they are saying that, there’s a good chance they are. But, our career advisement program is a great place to get caught up. While Sabrina does advise students in the College of Arts & Sciences, she is a great resources for any student looking for advice or a listening ear in the job or internship search process.
