Did you know that the name “Kelly” in Japanese translates to “Kobayashi”? Not exactly, but I’m hoping to channel some Kobayashi for a good cause.

Recently, I became involved in the United Way of Norman by serving on its Pacesetter Cabinet Committee. Pacesetters are businesses that set the bar for United Way’s annual giving campaign by getting a jump start on donations.

To kick off United Way of Norman’s Pacesetter campaign, I’ll be participating in a hot dog eating contest tomorrow (Friday, June 24) from 4-6 p.m. at United Way Plaza at 2424 Springer Drive in Norman. I will be challenging three other guys in a two-minute show of wiener eating prowess in order to shed light on this year’s campaign.

United Way of Norman put together a video that (unfortunately) features one of my competitors, but check it out anyway.

I hope to represent CLS well in this endeavor, especially since this is the first time I’ve attempted this sort of competition. Any tips on strategy are welcomed, and I promise to update you on the outcome.
