This past summer, MPGE faculty Deepak Devegowda and MCEE staff Yoana Walschap traveled with a group of fifteen petroleum engineering undergraduate students to Colombia to attend an Improved Recovery Technique course, along with students from Colombia National University, being taught by Dr. Devegowda. The trip not only offered students the opportunity to learn petroleum engineering skills in an international setting, but allowed them the chance to broaden their experience and understanding of the world through participation in cultural activities which highlighted life in Colombia’s Amazon basin. MPGE students have previously gone to Bolivia for this same course. In 2015, MPGE will be teaching this course and Well Test Analysis in Peru.
