BP Awards Three Petroleum Engineering Scholars

With over 700 applicants for the first year of the new BP Scholars Program, BP was able to provide scholarships to seven OU students, including three from MPGE. Congratulations Jeffrey Calhoun, James Fross and Katherine Oransky!

BP knows that today’s students are the future of the energy industry. That’s why they launched the BP Scholars Program, to support high-achieving, undergraduate scholars with their studies in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or business. Those selected at BP Scholars are awarded a $5,000 scholarship and given the opportunity to visit one of BP’s offices to experience first-hand what life is like at BP. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full time and majoring in a STEM or business area of study, be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2. All applicants had to complete an online application and have a virtual interview. They were evaluated on their academic record, essay response, work experience, demonstrated leadership and community/extracurricular involvement.
