Drilling & Well Completion Group Receives Research Award

A new project has been awarded to MPGE’s Drilling and Completion Group. The project, funded by the U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), will study failure in wellbore cements and elastomer liner hanger in conjunctions with loss of well control incidents. The aim is to develop new testing protocols for sealing assemblies and cement systems. MPGE assistant professor Saeed Salehi will serve as the primary investigator with associate professors Ramadan Ahmed and Catalin Teodoriu serving as co-PI’s. This is a two-year project award of $326,000 that will utilize the latest equipment for testing cements and elastomer hangers.
