SPE Mid-Continent North America Region held their annual Regional Student Paper Contest in Richardson, Tex. on Saturday, April 8, where students from five universities presented their papers before a panel of judges to see who would advance to the international finals. Five MPGE students took part and were accompanied by Associate Professor Catalin Teodoriu. OU’s students performed exceedingly well and truly represented MPGE’s tradition of excellence. The final rankings were as follows:
Tito Henao, 1st Place, Master’s Division
Wei Tian, 1st Place, PhD Division
Chinedum Peter Ezeakacha, 2nd Place, PhD Division
Adonis Costin Ichim, 3rd Place, Master’s Division
Sergio Alejandro Gomez Mejia represented OU in the undergraduate division but did not place. However, after this experience, I’m sure we will see more from him as he transitions into his accelerated master’s program.
Those students who placed 1st will receive an all expense paid trip to ATCE 2017 in San Antonio, Tex., October 9-11, to compete in the international finals.
