The Oklahoma City chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers recently held a workshop for members of their Drilling Study group at OU’s Well Construction and Technology Center (WCTC). More than twenty industry professionals attended, along with OU students interested in drilling engineering. MPGE Emeritus Professor Subhash Shah and Associate Professor Catalin Teodoriu presented on coil-tubing technology and well construction. Attendees then received a tour of the laboratories and observed demonstrations of testing.
WCTC is an innovative research center within the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering. Large scale testing equipment is built on site to solve some of the biggest technical challenges facing well operations. The center is led by its director Ramadan Ahmed.
