OU Parents: a Blog for OU Parents by OU Parents

Welcome to the University of Oklahoma’s Parent Ambassadors blog, “OU Parents!”

OU Parents is a blog for OU parents, by OU parents. It’s a place where Sooner families can talk shop: What’s the best way to approach applying for financial aid? Who’s figured out how to make the most of a campus visit? What’s the best meal plan for your student? Basically, anything and everything Sooner parents might encounter.

OU has selected a small group of Sooner moms and dads to lend their parenting expertise right here. These moms and dads might be helping their high school student apply to OU. Or, they might already have a student or students enrolled here. Maybe they’ve even got a student in grad school. No matter what stage you’re at, you’ll find a lifeline here for guidance and a support team of parents who are going through those same challenges — and triumphs.

We’re always looking for new voices to contribute to OU Parents, and we’d love to hear how you can help other Sooner families. Apply to be a Parent Ambassador by filling out our short submission form.

Parent Ambassadors create one to three blog posts (of any length) each month. In their posts they offer guidance to other OU parents on the ins and outs of parenting an OU student, which might include FAFSA tips, how students can take advantage of campus resources, signing up for emergency communications to ensure your students’ safety and helping your student transition from high school to college. Parent Ambassadors would be expected to respond to questions and comments on blog posts and foster helpful online dialogue among parents.

In addition to helping other parents around the country, OU Parent Ambassadors will receive the following:

We hope you’ll come back often to see the exciting discussions and collaboration taking place among our OU parents.

  1. My freshman son came home for Christmas and told me he’s not going back to school. How can I find out what happened?
