OU #3 in the Nation for Social Media

socialmediaThe University of Oklahoma recently popped up #3 in the nation for universities using social media on Fan Page List, featured on the popular social media news site Mashable.

This ranking takes into account Facebook fans, Twitter followers and a high Klout score. Klout measures reach, amplification and network size to determine user influence on Twitter.

Web Communications manages these accounts and also creates video content for the OU YouTube Channel.

This recognition is really exciting for our office and drives home our recent Award of Excellence for Social Media from the American Marketing Association OKC.

And the best part? We are connecting with OU communities that we may never get to reach otherwise. That’s the power of social media and higher education. And we’ve only scratched the surface!

  1. As a local employer and social-media-strategist, I can tell you that students at the University of Oklahoma are social-savvy and heavily engaged with the OU brand. When your football team is ranked no 1 – there’s a certain amount of influence that goes into the amount of social activity, but I’m sure that OU would still rank highly if it were otherwise. Congratulations.
