Shop Local: Norman, Oklahoma

for every $100 spent at local businesses, $68 returns to the community.

Of the 23 million small business that exist in the USA, it’s safe to say Norman is home so some of the best. And when you shop locally, your community wins! Listed below are a few of my favorite local shops around Norman:

Local Eats:
With so many to choose from, I couldn’t pic just one so I’m listing all my favorite local restaurants below. After you work up an appetite with all your local shopping, these are a must to refuel:

  • Coriander Cafe – best pho and noodle salad in town. Everything always tastes fresh.
  • Pub W – homestyle at it’s best.
  • Jax – cozy creole soul comfort food. The fried chicken comes with honey!
  • Blackbird – trendy comfort food that always satisfies.
  • Victoria’s Pasta Shop – homemade pasta and delectable sauces. The lobster roll has my number.
  • Taste of India – yummy sauces and your choice of meats (or none) over a bed of billowy, perfect rice. And pillows of beautiful nan. Love the cozy, quiet atmosphere and the guy who runs the place is terrific.
  • La Baguette – Mmmmm. Breads. Pastries. Desserts. Entrees. I love it all.
  • Greek House – Home-spun gyros with fries cooked in the grease that comes off the meat. Uhhhh, sooooo gooooood!
  • Cocina Don Miguel – my new favorite Mexican food restaurant. The rice is like a cloud and the chips – oh, the chips.
  • Forward Foods – fresh, homemade, gourmet sandwiches and charcuterie that will make all other sandwiches you’ve eaten seem like sad, lifeless wannabes.

If anyone needs me, you can probably find me at any of these places. (Unless you need me tonight, in which case I’ll be freezing my hair off at the BEDLAM game!)

Shop local. Eat local. Thing big. Shop Small. You get the idea. Now do it!

  1. Have you tried Legend’s Restaurant at 1313 W. Lindsey? It is a local restaurant that is a “legend” in Norman. It has been around since the 70’s and has fresh homemade delicious food and very well known for its homemade lemon cake! For a more elegant but also affordable lunch, dinner, or delicious brunch on Sunday.

  2. I haven’t but it sounds like a place I’d love. Will have to check it out! Thanks for the info.
