OU Parent Ambassadors and the OU Parents Blog
Here you will find blog posts that cover how to land a student job at OU, how to help your student handle a stressful exam week, one family’s experience with the National Merit Scholars program and Sooner Saturday. New posts are added weekly so it’s a great resource for continued fresh content for parents and students alike!
If you want to share YOUR expertise on the OU Parents Blog (like Mallory Stewart from OU HR did), reach out to Candace or Morgan. Also send any potential Parent Ambassadors their way and they’ll
bug/stalk contact them.
Our fun monthly top 5 series for May is coming soon and is sure to be a good one. Look for it around the end of April and feel free to promote. To tide you over until its release, see previous Hi5OU videos on our YouTube Channel! Special note: Team Web Comm’s video team has a special Summer Session Edition coming soon as well!
#OUGrad16 – Grad Cap Storify + General Graduation
Decorating the ole mortar board has become a way for each student to express themselves and stand out in a sea of caps and gowns. And we gotta say – WE LOVE IT! One of our biggest pieces of content ever has been a Storify of these for OU Class of 2015. This year we’ll continue this new tradition for the OU Class of 2016 and can’t wait to see what they come up with.
We’ll have a Storify roundup with general graduation tweets and Instagram photos before graduation. We’ll also get more specific closer to graduation when we publish a decorated grad caps Storify. Please use and encourage students to use the hashtag #OUGrad16 with their photos.
#OUGrad16 Commencement Animated Video
This the above teaser doesn’t get you excited for this, idk what would! Video team’s Ame Aziere put this one together and we can’t wait to promote and share her talents with the world in celebration of the OU Class of 2016!
#OUGrad16 Class Council Posts
Morgan and Mason have been on a mission with the 2016 Class Council members at their favorite OU locations, asking them fun get-to-know-me questions like “What’s the best advice you received from a professor?” and “You wouldn’t be here without the help of …” all while shooting video and snapping portraits. We’ll have portraits and social media videos branded with #OUGrad16. These students will span multiple colleges across campus, so there will be tie-ins for a lot of you.
Lifetime OU Email
We understand when you graduate from OU students are still Sooners and now, with Lifetime OU Email, OU students can keep their virtual OU identity 4 life!
Lindsey Street Bridge Closing
Lindsey Street Bridge is now closed until early 2017. This will affect how OU families get to and from graduation. Find more information at a page we will update throughout the year: link.ou.edu/RoadConstruction
102nd Annual School of Art and Art History Student Exhibition
This competitive juried show is held each spring and highlights the diverse works of art created by art and art history students from the University of Oklahoma. Multiple awards with cash prizes are presented to students, including the top award, the T.G. Mays Purchase Award, which is offered to a student whose artwork becomes a part of the museum’s permanent collection. Check out our album on Flickr for more photos!

#OUDecision16 Day – May 1
Close the college search process and celebrate on National Decision Day by making the smartest decision possible – which is obviously OU! We’re working with OU Recruitment and OU Alumni to make Decision Day 2016 huge – promotion leading up to and day of and making the college selection process *ahem* selecting OU more of an exciting event.
Sooner Racing, Sooner Suit Up and more – a whole new crop of projects has launched and with the momentum from the first, they’re sure to reach their goals in no time. Check out each goal, submit a project and learn more about each cause at http://link.ou.edu/thousandsstrong
OU Casting Call – May 4
Calling all Sooners! We’re hosting our first ever official OU Open Casting Call. From 9 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m. on May 4 students can stop by WebComm to have a head shot taken and do a short test video shoot. We’ll then catalog them and can contact them as projects arise. Marketing departments across campus will have access to these students should you need them for a photo/video shoot and OU Web Comm will have these individuals readily available for the many marketing photo/video shoots and promotions that arise. More information: http://link.ou.edu/OUCastingCall
OU Summer Session
It’s almost time! We can’t wait to see and promote what Steven Lee brings to campus for our Summer Session students. In our opinion, the finest summer program in the nation! And remember: we’ll have a very special “Summer Session” Hi5OU coming soon.
Camp Crimson – June 22-July 29
Whether in Hi-Rickety, Whoop-te-do, Boomer, Sooner or OKU session – there’s no wrong way to be excited about Camp Crimson! We love seeing fresh faces on campus and share the Sooner Magic from these sessions with the world. More: http://link.ou.edu/campcrimson
OU Fishing Team
ICYMI OU has a pretty buoyant fishing team! Not only can they stay afloat while hooking major swamp donkeys, they’re also very active volunteering in our community! Bait your audience with this reel good feature written by our intern, Ramsey Phelps (we’re proud to the gills). Don’t flounder on this great catch: http://link.ou.edu/allaboutthatbass And remember, any fin is possible. Morgan said I need to scale it back so that’s all for now!
Stay tuned for our next Integrated Marketing Meeting date!
