We’ve all been at that point in a class when the professor starts discussing upcoming papers. Before you know it, his or her voice slowly starts to fade into the background as the stress of writing a ten-plus page paper takes over your conscience. Luckily, the OU Writing Center can be the calming voice to your stressed mind.

Even though the Writing Center is introduced to many students early on, it’s a resource that some students still are unfamiliar with. Here are three facts to better familiarize yourself with this great campus resource.

  • What can the Writing Center help me with?

The Writing Center helps students with virtually any writing project. Whether you are working on a cover letter for a potential internship or a research paper for a history class, this campus resource is here to help you power through the toughest of tasks.


How to access the OU Writing Center within the Collaborative Learning Center.

  • Where is the OU Writing Center? 

The main location is on the second floor of the Lissa and Cy Wagner Hall, the building north of Price College, in room 280. The Wagner location is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Other locations for the Writing Center include the Collaborative Learning Center in the Bizzell Memorial Library from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, and the Housing Learning Center in Adams Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.

  • Do I need to make an appointment? 

It’s optional. If you would like to make an appointment with the Writing Center, visit There, you will be able to create an account and find an available slot. If you do not schedule an appointment online, you can go to the writing center, sign in and wait for a consultant to meet with you. Sessions typically last 30 minutes. If you can’t make it in to the office, submit your paper online to a week in advance to be edited.
