Amenities Around the Residence Halls

We’re anxious to have the new freshman class moving in soon! Before arriving, check out some of our favorite amenities around the residence halls.

Walker Center

Walker Center Kitchen

Walker Center Kitchen is the newest addition to the residence halls. The Walker Center Kitchen is open 24/7 and is readily available for anyone in the OU community to use.

The Walker Center Kitchen comes equipped with everything you would need to cook in a standard kitchen. It contains two ovens, a blender, pots, pans, trays, cutting boards and all the standard kitchen equipment you could possibly need. However, there is not a refrigerator for storage and food ingredients; that is the responsibility of the individuals who use the kitchen.

The kitchen includes two auto-sense stovetops that only activate when the provided pots and pans are used on them. They also turn off automatically when there is inactivity for more than 30 seconds. The kitchen also includes a dishwasher that can run an entire cycle in only one minute and 30 seconds.

It is the responsibility of the individuals using the kitchen to clean all equipment they use, as well as clean up after themselves to preserve the kitchen in its best condition so everyone can enjoy its convenience!

Couch Center

Couch Practice Center

The Couch Practice Center is a great place to study, focus on school work and collaborate with others. The practice center comes equipped with multiple desks and couches that are perfect for studying. It also includes two printers, five white boards that can be moved around, six collaborative smart TVs and six computers available to all students.

The practice center also includes two collaborative study rooms that are great for group work called the huddle and flex rooms. Both rooms contain tables, chairs, smart TVs and dry-erase boards that are free to use for anyone living in the residence halls. The rooms are also capable of vision control from within the rooms, meaning you can control whether or not people on the outside can see you. This feature in the collaboration rooms adds extra privacy for groups that need it.

The Couch Practice Center now also includes a 3D printing center that is free to use for the OU community. To learn more about how to use the 3D printing center, click here.
