OU Move-In 2018: Everything You Need to Know

The wait is finally over. Your bags and boxes are packed; your car is stuffed to the brim and you are heading to Norman to start your new college journey. Move-In Day is the first of many thrilling experiences that you’ll have at OU, and we are here to break down the 2018 Move-In process.

Dates and Times

Panhellenic Move-In: Wednesday, August 8 from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

David L. Boren Hall, Cross and Residential Colleges’ Move-In: Wednesday, August 15 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Adams, Couch and Walker Centers: Thursday, August 16 from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Be sure to check your OU email for your Move-In time, which will be sent out close to Move-In Day.

Important Things To Know:

  • Get your Sooner Card prior to Move-In. This is your ticket in.
  • Students will only be allowed to go through the Move-In service ONCE.
  • No more than two vehicles per student are permitted. If you arrive with two vehicles, it is important that you stay together through the process.
  • Don’t come before your designated Move-In time, and don’t come later than your designated Move-In time. We have a set number of workers for each Move-In time, and we don’t want to overwhelm the process with early or late arrivals.
  • Bring snacks and water. The process may take awhile so be sure to keep your energy up and have a full tank of gas.
  • Tag your pictures with #OUMoveIn18!

The Process:

  1. Using your Sooner Card, you will check in at Lloyd Noble Center. Once you are there, we will swipe your Sooner Card and give you a hangtag that contains all of the details about the Move-In process.
  2. Follow traffic directions to your residence hall. Don’t worry, there will be many volunteers waiting to direct you and answer any questions you might have.
  3. Once you arrive at your residence hall, you will be greeted by our third-party workers ready to unpack your car. Once they have unloaded everything, they will take it up to your room while you head back to park your car and then head back to your residence hall.
  4. Head to your room, begin unpacking and settle in!

  1. My daughter, Carly Capulli, has decided not to rush. She will be moving into Adams (room 611) on 8/16 and NOT 8/8. She has tried unsuccessfully to let Panhellenic know. Her roommate is Virginia Bickel. What time has Virginia been given to move in?

    Thank you,
    Barbara Capulli

    • Hi, Barbara,
She should be getting an updated arrival letter from Housing. You can also view all Move-In arrival times on our website, link.ou.edu/move-in.

  2. What if we are taking a bike, will it be taken off by the moving Ninja’s or do we have to walk it back to dorm? I was told we there would be a place to register it on move in day there by the dorm.

    • The Move-In team will only take items to rooms, and all items also have to fit in an elevator. I would recommend bringing a bike lock and locking it up near your center while you’re waiting in line for the team to unload your things. Or, you’re certainly welcome to ride it from LNC to the residence halls after going through the process and parking. It wouldn’t be a long ride.

      • Do items need to be labeled with the student’s name or dorm room information? My son was planning on bringing his hanging shirts on hangers right out of his closet. Is this something that the ninjas will be able to take as well?

  3. We have read 3 different move in times for tomorrow for Cross. I doubt this will be read before tomorrow morning, but we would sure like to know what time to be there.

    • Move-In times were sent to OU email accounts. Additionally, you can find your Move-In window at link.ou.edu/move-in.

    • No. All students are asked to arrive no earlier than the beginning of their scheduled time slot, not prior. Sorry!
