Stay Safe on Campus

Have you ever finished studying late at night and felt like you needed someone to walk back to your residence hall with you? Housing and Food Services provides a complimentary service called SafeWalk to help out during those situations.

SafeWalk is a free service that utilizes resident advisers, who are screened and approved by OUPD, to accompany members of the university community anywhere on campus when they call (405) 325-WALK. Resident advisers are readily identifiable by special shirts, coats and badges. The service is available from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. all seven days of the week throughout campus and the Greek community.

All SafeWalk staff members carry flashlights and umbrellas when the weather gets a little wet and can be reached through the various blue phones you see throughout campus. Simply ask the dispatcher to connect you to SafeWalk, and they will be there to assist you within 10 to 15 minutes. You can find more information about on the program here.

The University of Oklahoma also provides a program called SafeRide. This program provides safe and free transportation to OU students within the Norman city limits. SafeRide operates from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You can learn more about SafeRide here.

  1. Thanks so much, safewalk for creating a beautiful environment. I had too many problems in terms of security. But I think this article will help to get help from SafeWalk.
