Professor Emeritus Shah at Work in India

In August 2015, Professor Subhash Shah retired from MPGE after 22 years, but that hasn’t stopped him from working. In January, Shah was named as the Shell Total Chair Professor in Petroleum Engineering for Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. In this new role, Shah is responsible for establishing the Drilling and Simulation Laboratory at PDPU, revising the petroleum engineering curriculum in order to better meet needs of international oil and gas industry and mentor PDPU students aspiring to work within the industry. PDPU already has strong ties to OU through their summer learning program on our Norman campus, and Shah’s time spent at their institution only strengthens that bond. Because of this well established connections, roughly 25% of PDPU students choose to continue their education at OU.

In addition to his work at PDPU, Shah continues to serve as a consultant for OU’s Well Construction Technology Center.
