MPGE’s efforts to enhance student learning through hands-on experience continue to add value to the program with the addition of a portable well control simulator from Drilling System LLC, named Drill Sim 50 (pictured below). As a compliment to the full-sized National OilWell Varco offshore simulator, MPGE will be able to offer a more holistic curriculum to both undergraduate and graduate students by partnering with the Drilling Simulation Center to bring this technology to the classroom. Under the leadership of Catalin Teodoriu, the Drilling Simulation Center is working with MPGE faculty on ways to incorporate simulation technology into their curriculum. Teodoriu anticipates seeing the first courses utilizing both technologies taking place during Spring 2017.
