OU Reservoir Geomechanics and Seismicity Research Group has been recognized for research excellence by DOE Geothermal Technologies Office:

Ph.D. candidate, Lianbo Hu, and the RGSRGā€™s rock mechanics lab technologist, Steve Dwyer, played a key role in the success of this effort which also involved participation and contributions from undergraduate students (e.g., Lei Han, Weiqi Yu, Kyle Bolyard, Bey Westcott).

Investing in EGS technologies could eventually lead to more than 100 gigawatts of economically viable electric generating capacity, enough to power 100 million U.S. homes. Efforts to accelerate EGS development such as those from the OU team will help diversify the domestic energy portfolio, enhance energy access, and increase energy security.
