The American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE), one of the active organizations for petroleum engineers organizes the Student Poster and Presentation Contest to recognize the role of academic endeavors in the future development of the petroleum industry, where university students highlight their research work. Several graduate (MS and Ph.D.) students from top petroleum engineering programs across the country including (LSU, New Mexico Tech, OSU, UL Lafayette, IIT, TAMIU, Missouri Tech, and OU) competed against each other. Four graduate students from AADE – University of Oklahoma section were selected for presenting their research work in this competition on April 9-10, 2019 in Denver, CO. These students and their research were:
- Harshkumar Patel: Performance Evaluation of Elastomer Seals in Solid Expandable Tubular
- Raj Kiran: Worst Case Discharge Estimation Based on Experimental and Numerical Investigation
- Syed Ali Mehdi Naqvi: Process Tracing Through Eye-Tracking Simulation Based Training to Enhance Safety in Drilling Operations
- Thai Phi: Well Integrity Issues in Extreme High Pressure, High Temperature Well
Raj Kiran and Harsh Patel were conducting their respective graduate research work under the supervision of Dr. Salehi where Syed Ali supervised jointly by Drs Salehi and Teodoriu. OU MPGE team received all three places for the graduate competition. Harshkumar Patel won first prize and Sandy Purdy Research Award while Raj Kiran and Syed Ali Mehdi Naqvi got second and third place respectively.
