If I’m not in my dorm room, not at a meeting, or not in class, chances are you’ll find me in the student union. Specifically, you’ll find me nestled inside one of the many booths in the Clarke-Anderson Room, better known as the Schooner Room. I come here for study breaks in between classes, for lunch and dinner at the food court nearby, for late night cram sessions, and sometimes just to sit and relax. (Would anyone care to take a wild guess as to where I’m sitting while I write this blog?)

If you’ve already taken your tour of OU’s campus, you probably remember walking through here. The centerpiece of this room is OU’s original Sooner Schooner wagon, and as your tour guide probably mentioned, “Miami Sucks” is painted on the underside of it, but that’s beside the point. The real gem of the room is the labyrinth of booths that take up the majority of its space. You can tell after sitting in them that these booths were made for college life. Convenient wall outlets for my laptop, tables big enough to spread out my work, high booth dividers to help maintain my focus, and room to stretch out make them the perfect place for studying and multi-tasking. The other thing I like about this room is that it’s not uncomfortably quiet. Because it’s divided up, you can study quietly or have lively conversation without bothering anyone or being bothered.

As if that’s not enough reason to love the Schooner Room, it’s also only a few seconds of a walk away from the Union’s food court (Quiznos, Sbarro, Chick-fil-a…yeah, I know) and only a slightly longer walk away from the Union’s STARBUCKS that conveniently accepts your meal plan points.

There are so many cozy nooks around campus, but this just happens to be the one I’m currently in love with. If you haven’t taken your tour of OU’s campus yet, be sure to look out for the Schooner Room!
