It’s currently 3:33 in the morning and it is so sad that I think it is early. Here lately my life at OU has consisted of late night studying for finals… yes it’s crunch time! I have started to realize that, maybe it’s because I’m in my first semester, but I’m not really sure how to prepare at this point. I’ve been attending my classes, meeting my professors during office hours, and re-reading over my notes. Finals are difficult to describe. I feel prepared, yet I don’t! It’s an exciting feeling knowing the semester is almost over, yet frightening to think that my first college finals are here! I feel that the only thing getting me by at this point is knowing I get to go home in about a week, and start a fresh semester after that! I could not be more excited for next semester. I’ve learned so much this semester, both academically and about myself. This semester has been filled with wonderful things happening around campus… Have you heard about them?!

Did you know on Friday nights, the Union Programming Board (UPB) offers free movies on Friday nights shown here on campus at the Meacham Auditorium in the Student Union!? This semester I’ve gone to see, “Captain America,” “Crazy, Stupid Love,” “Friends with Benefits,” “One Day,” and am looking forward to tonight’s “Our Idiot Brother”… these are just to name a few. I cannot wait to see what they will offer next semester!

To celebrate the holiday season (“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….” *ignore my singing*) OU had Santa Claus himself come and hang out and take pictures with us in the South Oval!

One of the most epic events I attended this semester (also hosted by UPB) was the foam party! It was such a success and a great way to kick off the semester! I hope we have this event again soon because it was definitely the most fun!

Last week, since it was “dead week,” UPB hosted “Relax Attacks” and gave out test supplies to all the students, free massages, and free late night breakfast!

The Campus Activities Council (CAC) is another host of great events and also a great way to get involved on campus.

I am a part of CAC Mom’s Day exec and Dance Marathon morale team this year, and could not be more excited. CAC hosts events like Dad’s Day, Winter Welcome Week, Speaker’s Bureau, College Bowl, Dance Marathon, Mom’s Day, U-Sing and the list goes on and on.

One of the things I love about CAC is the fact that you can actually apply to be part of the CAC CREW, who I emphasize are a great help to all execs, which gives a chance to all student to volunteer, during their own time, at various CAC hosted events! It is a great way to get involved and plan around your schedule.

So far this fall semester, CAC has hosted Howdy Week, at the very beginning of the semester, to kick us off. Homecoming, which was extremely exciting and filled with great fun as when you walked down the South Oval, you’d see all the boards the Greek houses made, the floats during the parade, and of course the game! U-Sing which was an spectacular show the Greek community here at OU put on showing off their freshman talent!  And Dad’s Day, which was a time to share with family, and enjoy a weekend of great OU football and fun.

With my crazy busy classes and all the great events going on around campus, and my friends, you can imagine how occupied I’ve been, but I honestly would not have it any other way. I love being a part of the Sooner family. As a great friend of mine once tweeted, “I am blessed to be stressed about school. That means I am receiving a wonderful education that values excellence from @UofOklahoma.”
