Man. OU Greek life has had some of the best philanthropic events the past few weeks. I’m not even a member of the houses that held these events, but I sure did enjoy going to share my support! If you like music… keep reading to check out two of my favorites!

  1. Anchorman: No, not the movie… a male pageant with one contestant from 16 different fraternities! These men danced an opening number, modeled swimwear, performed a talent, showcased eveningwear, and answered an onstage question… all to support the visually impaired for an organization called Service for Sight. I was definitely surprised by the talent portion. Yes, some of the contestants took their moment to shine as an excuse to do something humorous, but some were without a doubt musically gifted. It was great that this event combined such a diverse group of individuals for a common cause. The guys were all very good sports and witnessing this pageant was just hilarious.
  2. Coffeehouse: The second event is coffeehouse, where a  sorority and fraternity paired up to host 3+ hours of music performances. With coffee and cookies, the audience watched as countless acts (featuring students across OU’s campus) got up to sing, play musical instruments, present original re-mixes, perform slam poetry, and do stand-up comedy. There were couples singing duet love songs, hipsters playing guitars, and talented musicians of all genres. I absolutely loved that so many different types of people came out to watch their fellow pledge sister or brother (or just friend on campus) and support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It was such a great way to raise money for kids with cancer.
