OU on YouTube (and Vimeo!)

In October 2008, Web Communications launched OU’s official YouTube channel with 3 videos. Since then, we’ve developed two web series, REEL Students and Why OU? We also shoot other fun stuff like the Couch Restaurants Renovation and Fill the Trolley. By June 2009, we’ll be over 100 videos! Here’s what we’re working on…

REEL Students: Every semester we give 5 students FLIP HD video cameras and encourage them to run around campus telling the University’s story through their eyes. At the end of the semester (or when a student gives us enough footage for 6 videos), they get to keep the camera. We edit the footage for them – which takes all the pressure off, allowing them to just observe and tell a story.

Why OU?: If you see me and Cassie around campus interviewing students, please stop, say “HI” and tell us why you chose to come to OU! We’re always out and about, asking students and professors why those chose OU and what advice they have for prospective students trying to pick a school. We’re also working on Why OU?: Alumni to showcase professionals who got their starts at The University of Oklahoma.

We’ve even received video requests from prospective students. One student wanted to see a Why OU? on someone in the aviation program. We were able to fill that request within a week! One of our goals is to make the OU YouTube channel as personable and interactive as possible by allowing our audience to drive the content. If you have an idea for a video, let us know! It might end up on our idea board!

We invite you to experience OU on YouTube (and Vimeo) by subscribing, rating videos, leaving comments, and emailing us your ideas for future content.
