So Many Choices

It’s that time again. One holiday has passed and another is just around the corner. Movies are once again flocking to the movie theater, hoping to grab all the attention and get the big bucks.

Today will see the invasion of four brand spanking new movies. Two thrillers, a comedy, and a retelling of an old Christmas classic. All these movies have more hype than the last.

A Christmas Carol, in 3D, The Fourth Kind, The Men Who Stare at Goats, and The Box.

First off, let’s start off with A Christmas Carol.

It’s another retelling of that classic holiday story by Charles Dickens. What’s the biggest difference? It’s animated, and it’s 3D. Jim Carry is also the star, and he’s playing the majority of the roles. So, we all know there’s going to be a lot unexpected humor that only Carry can produce.

It’ll be a kid-friendly movie for sure.

The Fourth Kind, as the title implies, is about aliens. Not in the creepy “little green men came down and probed me” sort of way. But, well, creepy in the “there was something outside the window and, and, and….” Well, who really knows? We’ll have to watch and find out. Or maybe it’ll watch us and find out…

As it is, it seems like a very creepy movie. It’sĀ told from a psychologist’s perspective about a group of people who all have bad dreams and memories of an “owl.” It’s supposed to be based off a true story, told as a reenactment.

The Men Who Stares at Goats has George Clooney and Ewan McGregor as the stars. This movie looks hilarious. McGregor is a journalist who stumbles upon a military secret: physics. He asks Clooney, one of the physics, if he can accompany him on his mission. Thus begins a tale of finding yourself…amongst lots of ensuring hilarity.

I, personally, cannot wait to see this movie.

The Box looks screwed up. A psychological mess that’ll twist up your mind and spit it out with no mercy. And…it looks brilliant! It’s all about a choice, a life-altering choice no matter the decision made.

You can press the button, get a million dollars, but as a consequence kill a random person somewhere in the world. But of course, what else would you expect from the man who directed Donnie Darko (Richard Kelly)?

This movie will be the psychological thriller of the year. Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, and Frank Legella are the stars who’ll drive the drama and the tension.

Today’s just another good day for movies. The only issue will be which to go to first! So many choices…
