It is mid-September and by this time you’ve found your back-to-school groove; summer joys are now mingling with all of your other memories. This year, however, is different from all the rest. Why? You have studied your way to the top of the food chain and will soon say bye-bye high school hello college! So, it’s decision time, right? What will you do after graduation?

Even though you are knee deep in quizzes, exams, and enjoying your status as a superior senior (give the freshmen a break, ok?), you should definitely add “college visits” to your ever growing to-do list. The internet is certainly a powerful tool for scoping out universities but doesn’t hold a candle to physically spending time at the places on your “top five” list. Buzzing around campus while learning about its history, traditions, and academic adventures can help you discern where you belong.

We LOVE showing prospective students our stunning campus and autumn is the perfect time to visit. The energy of our students is palpable (our classes are exciting…or, it could be the Starbucks in our Student Union). Campus is ablaze with turning leaves and magical mums. And, Sooner Football unites our entire community in a frenzy of fandom on home game Saturdays.

Don’t be fooled, though, we are about so much more than football and that is evident on our campus tours. Our buildings, classrooms, and student recreation and living areas are physical proof of just how much we value education and our students. Numerous academic areas boast newly remodeled facilities that include the most up to date learning technology available. And, when you are outside of the classroom, you can study in peaceful lounges, dine ‘til your belly is content at a delicious eatery, or simply enjoy the park-like atmosphere of campus as a whole. We even have a room in our library that looks like the dining hall at Hogwarts. Seriously!

OK, so are you ready to take a tour? We offer them every weekday at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. as well as most Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. To set one up, click here. Current OU students give our tours and provide the inside scoop on what it’s like to be a Sooner. Ask them lots of questions; I assure you they aren’t shy.

You wouldn’t buy a car without test driving it first, don’t pick a college without doing the same!  Hope to see you soon.
