MPGE Undergrad Receives Research Award

MPGE undergraduate student Rodrigo Rivera Reyes is recipient of an Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) grant from OU Honors College. The program offers financial assistance for scholarly and creative projects under the mentorship of a faculty member.  Dozens of research projects are funded each year so that undergraduates may undertake ambitious and exciting research endeavors. Rodrigo currently works under supervision of assistant professor Saeed Salehi at MPGE’s OU Center for Optimization of Drilling Systems where he is researching and testing the application of a new class of sealing materials, such as geopolymers, for wellbore cementing purposes. He will present his results during the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE) national conference in Houston, April 2017.
