As we listen to the birds sing and begin seeing trees and flowers blossom, I am reminded how fast summer is approaching. Even though the earth is still cool, pre-planning summer activities always heats things up. Vacations, camps, visits . . . organize now so you can actually enjoy your break! Here are a few dates you want to make sure you get on your calendar; so book your flights, hotels, or whatever and make sure you don’t miss what’s going on in Norman this summer.

1)      Jazz in June: Norman is the city of festivals, and this is one of my favorites. If you haven’t visited the Norman campus yet and are looking for a good time to go…this is it.

Jazz in June [FREE] Music Festival at Brookhaven Village – June 24-26, 2010

Visit www.jazzinjune.org for more information.

2)      Camp Crimson: Ensure that you don’t look like an odd-ball at the first football game of the year! This is your don’t-want-to-miss new Sooner orientation camp. Not only will you meet upper-classmen to help show you the ropes, you will also make friends with other new Sooners just like you!

Boomer Session – July 15-17

Sooner Session – July 22-24

O.K.U. Session – July 29-31

Go to www.ou.edu/campcrimson/ to learn more.

3)      New Sooner Orientation Weekend (a.k.a MOVE IN TIME!): Parents say good-bye and students say hello to their new residence and life as a Sooner!

Freshman Convocation – August 19

First day of school – August 23

Summer always winds up being jammed-packed with activities, so you soon-to-be freshmen out there, remember to take time for yourselves. Don’t burn yourself out taking a bunch of classes this summer, you will have plenty of time to overwhelm yourself once school starts. In the meantime, finish this year strong and look ahead to the future. So many wonderful opportunities and activities await you! Need more tips and information, contact your OU representative.
