There’s only one way to find out if a college is right for you. A small glimpse of what life would be as a student on a particular campus can give you the assurance that a college is your best fit. Attending a school “sight unseen” is never recommended. For this reason OU offers you many opportunities to visit campus including tours during the week or on Saturdays (of non-holiday weekends) and on-campus events.

The campus tour can be quite informative. Whether you are just beginning your college search or whether you are decidedly a Sooner, we welcome you to walk through our campus, receive information on degree programs, visit with our recruitment staff and our student tour guides. You will learn about the history of campus, notable achievements, student life and, of course, visit the residence halls.

Tours are offered to students and their parents Monday through Friday at both 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. I suggest you tour during the week if possible. You will get to see just what the campus looks like during a normal school day. You can see students and professors walking around, studying, and this visit can really help you understand how OU is a large campus but how it has a small, personal feel. Saturday tours are offered on non-holiday weekends. They are also a good way to see campus – just remember if you visit on a game day you may encounter 90,000 of your new best friends!

OU offers a Preview Day called Sooner Saturday each year. This year’s event is scheduled for November 19! Seniors and transfer students, please log on to ou.edu/go2/soonersaturday to register. Feel free to bring your parents as well. Sooner Saturday is a day designed for you to choose what you want to experience on our campus. Sessions will be posted on the web site for you to plan your day with us. You should be able to speak with departments, attend sessions on financial aid, scholarships, tour the residence halls, and eat in the student cafeteria, Couch Restaurants. I look forward to you attending Sooner Saturday! Registration should go live mid-October.

Juniors, we haven’t forgotten you! In addition to a campus tour, we will host Junior Preview Days in the spring. These days are different from Sooner Saturday as they are designed so you can see what life is like as a student at OU. Registration is limited for Junior Days, so pay close attention to your email and register promptly.  More to come!

Wherever you are in your college search, we hope to host you on OU’s campus! There’s only ONE Oklahoma!

Mandy
