While the transition from high school to college is a major one, it can still be very smooth.  Whether you have already chosen a major or remain undecided, all of our freshman start in one place: University College! University College is housed in Lissa and Cy Wagner Hall, where you will receive one-on-one advising from our very knowledgeable freshmen advising counselors. They will help map out the best course for your first year by aiding you in deciding a major, helping you choose your class schedule, and advising you on all university related policies and procedures.  The earlier you set up your advising appointment, the better! Being early means that you will have a better shot at getting in all the classes you want in the time slots that want! Once you have been advised and approved, you will be able to enroll in your classes.

If you are an OU Scholar, which includes National Merit and National Award scholars, you will be advised through The National Scholars Department. Once advised, OU Scholars are able to enroll early in the spring semester of their freshman year and the fall semester of their sophomore year. You also have special library privileges in which you are allowed to check out books for up to four weeks and check out graduate level material.

Freshman year can seem a little scary, but it’s really not that bad! Embrace it! With your hard work and the help of our advising staff, you are sure to have an awesome freshman year at OU!

BOOMER SOONER!
