I love Norman. There are so many unique shops downtown that give it heart. My favorites are Pink Elephant Café, Guestroom Records and the Opolis.

Today, I was exploring a little jewelry shop on Main and found a bracelet featuring La Virgen de Guadalupe, which I’m studying in my Chicano Literature class. Seriously. I love Norman.

My most recent discovery is Gray Owl Coffee. I began going there because I can’t effectively study at my sorority house, but now I like it so much that I go to read or just relax. Like right now. I love the coffee smell; I love the desk lamps and comfy couches; and I love the way the music and people talking mixes to create my perfect study soundtrack.

My point is, when you make it to college, get off campus. Explore the town. Figure out what makes it unique and be proud of those things. Find your niche.
