On Halloween night, I attended a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live cast at the Sooner Theatre. It was by far the best night of my life. At the door, the attendants put a V on my forehead with red lipstick because I was a virgin to the live show. Then, the veterans made all the virgins come to the front of the stage so we could learn the Time Warp. Finally, we had cheer offs for each character hopeful to choose who we wanted to play each part.

As for the show itself, I can’t even explain the fun we had. Of course, we yelled all the normal things at the screen and the characters, but we were also given a bag of goodies to throw at the right moments. We squirted water guns, wore newspapers on our heads, and threw rice, playing cards, toilet paper and toast. It was incredible. The whole time I was thinking, “I’m so glad I live in Norman where there are people like me who enjoy things like this.”

I’m currently in the air flying home from Orlando, FL, where I spent the weekend. Why was I in Orlando instead of in Norman enjoying all the homecoming festivities? Well, as first vice president of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, I had the opportunity to attend ALD’s national conference. For free.

At the conference, I was surprised to find that OU was famous in the ALD world. We won several awards, and our faculty advisor, Dr. Alice Lanning, was named outstanding advisor of the year. I’m constantly surprised to discover just how respected the University of Oklahoma is.

If you want to attend a university that you can be proud of in every facet, choose to be a Sooner. We truly have it all.

I love Norman. There are so many unique shops downtown that give it heart. My favorites are Pink Elephant Café, Guestroom Records and the Opolis.

Today, I was exploring a little jewelry shop on Main and found a bracelet featuring La Virgen de Guadalupe, which I’m studying in my Chicano Literature class. Seriously. I love Norman.

As a Camp Crimson small group leader this summer, I learned of an OU chant that was lost over the years. I was also charged with helping to revive it. Here goes…
