Anyone who runs on pavement knows the brutal impact for joints and knees it can be. However, through my training I became aware of a resource that not many know: Lake Thunderbird Running Trails!
Why you should run trails instead of pavement:
- You’re in Nature! Studies show it reduces negative brain activity aka depression vs city running does not reduce negative brain activity.
- Faster way to lose fat. Studies show trail running you’ll burn 60 to 90 more calories per hour.
- Less impact on your body. No more shin splints!
- You use more muscle groups, while stabilizing the core, legs, and ankles.

It’s a great alternative with only a 15-minute drive from campus. HAPPY RUNNING!
