It is mid-September and by this time you’ve found your back-to-school groove; summer joys are now mingling with all of your other memories. This year, however, is different from all the rest. Why? You have studied your way to the top of the food chain and will soon say bye-bye high school hello college! So, it’s decision time, right? What will you do after graduation?

Hello there! Below is a ridiculously long, but amazingly wonderful (I’m not egotistical at alllll) post about me; jam packed with fun facts and whatever else I decide to include. If, for some unexplainable reason, you don’t feel like reading it all, then you should know that…

  • My name is Shelby Marie Heise (Heise rhymes with rice in case you were wondering).
  • I am obsessed with the color grey, Converse, nail polish (especially grey nail polish), Jane Austen, and glow in the dark stars.
  • My lucky number is 3.
  • I have a younger brother who serves as my garbage disposal and as a source of entertainment when I’m too lazy to turn on the TV.
  • Maury and The Jerry Springer Show are my downfall.
  • I’m a freshman and I have no idea what I want to major in.
  • The Descent is my favorite movie of all time, with Spaceballs coming in at a close second.
  • I spell out okay and doughnuts.
  • I have a love affair with asinine, completely superfluous adjectives and increasingly long sentences with a ludicrous amount of commas.
  • Also, I use the word ludicrous.
  • And finally, I love it here at OU. Boomer Sooner!

Boomer Sooner!

I first want to take this moment to reflect on how amazing it is for us to live in America. Saturday was September 11th and I would like to take the time to remind everyone to appreciate EVERY single second you are around those you love. Never take what you have for granted.

Marseilles, France

I love France

Summer 2010

I went to study abroad in France over the summer and I could not have had a better time! I used to never really think about it and didn’t think going abroad was for me. I was talked into it by a friend and am completely glad things played out as they did. Europe is so interesting and I fell in love with it. There are so many different cultures within such a close vicinity. You can travel from Paris (northern France) down to the southern coast in less time than it takes to drive from Norman to Austin, Texas! Vichy, France is a small town and has a lot in common with small town USA. The people were extremely nice to me and everything basically shut down after 9 pm.

We were completely submersed in the French culture and I enjoyed every second of it. I made a lot of great friends from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia. I will NEVER forget my experience in Europe and am planning on studying abroad again next summer. If you have the chance to study abroad, take it. Most will never get the opportunity to go abroad like they do in college.  It will make you appreciate different cultures a lot more and learn more about the world outside. J’aime la France!

Hello! My name is Alanna Sellinger & I’m a sophomore here at the University of Oklahoma! These past few weeks of school have been absolutely crazy—for me, it’s always hard to get back into a school routine after the carefree months of summer! But I guess for starters, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself, so here it goes…

WOW! I cannot believe I am a senior already! It seems like last week I was moving into the dorms and learning about how to get involved on campus. Now I am the Campus Activities Council Chair and love every aspect of OU. I never thought one day I would be in this position leading my favorite campus organization. These first three weeks of senior year have been a whirlwind of activity, starting with my last Howdy Week and ending with my first senior assignment.

It’s the beginning of another school year! Fall is on its way and before you know it you will be carving pumpkins, eating turkey, and buying presents. You may not know it, but fall also marks the beginning of the college fair season.

College fairs are wonderful opportunities to not only gather updated information and locate colleges and opportunities you may not be aware of, but also to meet college and university representatives face to face.

The University of Oklahoma is lucky to have an expansive and dedicated staff of OU graduates working full time in the department of Recruitment Services. This department serves prospective students from across the nation. Each and every high school and college student interested in OU has an OU rep available to assist them through the exploration and application process.

OU reps are dedicated to providing you with as much information as possible to assist you in making one of the most important decisions of your life. You will see us at college fairs throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas, on campus, at events, and in high schools.

For a complete list of events held on campus and locations near you where you will be able to meet with an OU representative visit our new “events” page.

To locate your OU representative, visit our “Meet Your Rep” page.

Hi everyone!

My name is Minh and I’m a sophomore here at OU! To start things off, I’ll just ramble a little bit about myself! Kay, here we go. I was born overseas, but grew up in good ol’ Oklahoma City. Got done with high school in OKC, moved on up to Norman where I lived in the dorms my freshman year. Fast forward a year later (Yes, I survived freshman year! Who would have thought, huh? It’s not that bad, guys. Seriously.) and here I am! I’m a Microbiology major and am currently taking my first MBIO class. I’m totally loving it, which is such a relief! It’s always nice to know you’ve chosen the right major for yourself.

This is actually not the greatest blog in the world, this is just a tribute.

Since this is my first blog, it fits into the category of an introductory blog. My name is Shaun Houser. I’m six feet-two inches tall, and weigh a hundred and ninety pounds. I used to be able to two-hand dunk a basketball until I got fat and lazy. My likes are long walks on the beach, football, and Robot Unicorn Attack. My dislikes are spiders, scorpions, and carnival folk (all three terrify me). I am a super-senior philosophy major with a minor in classical culture. It’s my pre-law.

Hi! My name is Nick Aguilera.  I’m a freshmen at OU who’s currently planning on double majoring in Spanish and International and Area Studies, although I’m not completely sure those are exactly the majors that are right for me.  I was born in Las Cruces, NM, but moved to Oklahoma in the seventh grade and have lived here since.  The University of Oklahoma was not really on my radar as far as college choices go until around the middle of first semester senior year.  I was pretty sure that I wanted to attend college out of state, but I learned of the scholarship that the University offers to National Merit Scholars, came to tour, and have loved it since! The opportunities present at this school are unbelievable and since starting school here I’ve come to realize that even more!

Hello there, future Sooners! I’m Tiffany, a Visual Communication junior from Edmond, Oklahoma. You’re soon going to learn that I am a list person, through and through. So in the way of introductions, I’m going to give you a list of the top three basic things to know about me.

1) Visual Communication–what is that? It is NOT Business Communication, which is a common mixup. Visual Communication, in its simplest form, involves methods of communicating through the visual arts. Makes sense, right? This is what many people would consider Graphic Design, but this degree program involves more than just printed communication. We also study web design and we do some 3-dimensional work. As a matter of fact, the project I’m working on right now involves eight 5″ x 5″ cubes that we rearrange and hinge together to form a new shape and to communicate movement. I’m sure I’ll post pictures of some of the projects I complete as I go, and with a new project just about every week, it won’t take long for you to see plenty of examples. 🙂
