After several weeks of drought, we finally get a great crop of releases this week. From underground hip-hop to indie rock to singer/songwriter fare, there’s something for everyone this week. Rejoice!
Buy:
Hello Hurricane – Switchfoot. The alt-rockers return. I’ve been a fan of these guys for almost ten years, so I’m excited to see how they do this time.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Live (CD/DVD set). The multi-faceted rock’n’rollers release a live album. I’m excited about this, as their career spans heavy rock, instrumental rock, pop, blues, and more.
MF Doom – Unexpected Guests. Underground rap.
Omar Rodriguez Lopez – Xenophanes. Lead singer of the Mars Volta releases an experimental solo project.
Snow Patrol – Up to Now. Pop-rock anthems should be in heavy abundance.
Tori Amos – Midwinter Graces. Female singer/songwriting’s main muse returns.
AC/DC – Backtracks. You all know what AC/DC sounds like.
Dashboard Confessional – Alter the Ending. Acoustic pop that probably doesn’t offer any new tricks, but will please the fans.
Flyleaf – Memento Mori. Heavy, dark alt-rock with melodic hooks.
Robyn Hitchcock – I Often Dream of Trains in New York. Male singer/songwriter with a long, prestigious history and a wicked lyrical prowess.
Die:
Bon Jovi – The Circle. Really? Really?
