Favorite Christmas song?

I’m currently in the middle of a debate with myself.

This debate is over two songs and which one should be my official favorite Christmas song of all time. This is something I’ve done a lot lately, since I’m now 20 and figure I’ve been around long enough to be informed and experienced on enough things that I can officially nail down my favorites. For example, I decided my top two favorite movies of all time are Lord of the Rings 3 and Inception.

Enrollment < Fun.

One of the best things about being a senior in my FINAL semester: not having to mess with enrolling in the upcoming semester.

Technology is such a wonderfully frustrating part of our lives, and it seems that for every improvement made, there will always still be a few guaranteed glitches down the road.  We will be forced to grit our teeth and trudge through them anyway, just when we thought everything could happen instantly with the click of a mouse.

I remember that feeling the day before my enrollment window would open.

Top Movie Soundtracks

In case you haven’t noticed, my favorite thing to write is lists of my favorites. This week, I’m doing some of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time.

I have some that are instrumental and some that are not, but all of these soundtracks are good additions to your musical library. There’s a wide variety here, too, so it can help you broaden your musical horizons.

1. Moulin Rouge

Happy rap

This surprises a lot of people who don’t know me very well, but I really like rap and hip-hop music.

Here’s the problem with rap, though: it’s not the most…shall we say…uplifting music to listen to. Rap and hip-hop music often objectifies women, promotes violence, and has an exorbitant amount of cursing. It’s hard for me to get past that sometimes.

So here’s a list of a few of my personal favorite singles in the genre of rap and hip-hop with a minimun of disagreeable elements.

Oh the joys of celebrity…

Let me start off this post by saying that I am an E! junkie. As I’m writing this, I’m currently watching re-runs of that obnoxious show “Kendra.” You know, the one with the ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner trying to drink that last drop of stardom before the cup runs completely dry. I have to admit that even though this reality show cannot compare to the genius that is “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kendra’s baby Hank Jr., is very adorable and makes me want to watch the show more. I’m sure my roommates are getting tired of hearing me say “aww” every five minutes.

Taylor Swift – “Speak Now”

Call me cliché or compare me to a high school girl, but I adore Taylor Swift music.

Maybe it’s because her music can be painfully honest or cute and funny. Maybe it’s because she’s an excellent entertainer who has a huge budget for her songs, videos, and shows. Maybe it’s because she’s more of a pop singer than country-western, since I don’t like country music.

Perfect Halloween Music

A vampire, a witch, and a ghost are gathered around a cauldron when unsuspecting little children ring the doorbell. No, this isn’t a scary movie – it’s a Halloween party, and the characters are guests in costume drinking punch when trick-or-treaters come to the door. This scene is incomplete, however, without an ominous soundtrack.

If Popular Fiction Could Be Bred

I spent this last Wednesday night the same way I spend every Wednesday night—sprawled on the couch in my boxers amidst a pile of Little Caesars pizza boxes and crushed Dr Pepper cans watching The Pagemaster. As the movie ended, I shed my customary tears for Richard Tyler and the valuable life lessons he learned and the courage he gained. The credits began to roll and I took two things away from the movie.

“It’s Just Not the Right Time.”

Okay, I’m going to go a little Carrie Bradshaw on you fabulous unwind readers.

Lately I’ve been reflecting on a string of similar issues in the dating lives of my friends.  These are girls and guys who are in the 18 to 26 age range. (Because who would ever write about their own dating experiences in a public sphere such as this… because then I would have to admit being slightly narcissistic, right? ) Anyway,  the issue at hand: timing.

The Social Network

Unwind readers, I have a confession to make. You may be wondering why I’m making a confession, coming clean so early in this relationship, but here goes: I’m a Facebook-fanatic. Okay, glad we got that out of the way. I feel better now.
I’ll admit to using my “study time” to creep all of my ex boyfriends, their new girlfriends, my friends’ ex boyfriends’ girlfriends, etc. Yes, if you know me personally and are reading this now, I have probably “researched” your page.
I love Facebook. That social networking site is the most impressive time waster I’ve ever seen. It’s even better than online shopping, if you can believe it.
