Just a normal day reading the Oklahoma Daily in the Union Courtyard.

As autumn approaches and I am stuck in a torrential downpour, my thoughts drift toward the changing of the seasons. I get a little excited when I can smell the change in the air. Pulling out the hoodie makes it all real: Fall is here!  There is nothing more exciting than the change from summer to fall…especially in Norman.

As a member of a student group, there is no bigger headache than trying to find a time for everyone to meet. Especially if it’s an officer’s meeting.

I mean, if you join a club, you just go to the general meeting time if you can make it (and don’t join the club if the time doesn’t fit into your schedule).

But if you are a club officer, or in a small group of students, then trying to find a time that fits neatly into everyone’s schedule can be crazy and hectic.

Until now… (insert “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” music)…

My friend Andrew found the perfect website for organizing schedules and time. Simply go to www.whenisgood.com, click on every single time that could possibly work for you, and then email that link to whomever is in charge of the schedule. Viola! Magic!

Its a neat little way to make sure you know everyone’s available time. Now you have some semblance of a chance of finding a time that works for all.

Hello!

Hi there! Let me first introduce myself. My name is Sarah and I’m a current OU senior. My major is Professional Writing and I’m from Fort Worth, Texas. I’m in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication and in the Honors College.

Okay, so those are the basics, but there is a lot more to know about who I am. Who I am today, as a senior, is a completely different person than who I was when I first arrived here at The University of Oklahoma. I actually blogged for OU my freshman year, and if I looked back on what I wrote I’m sure I’d be embarrassed a bit. You grow so much in the years you are here—so much. Things change—so fast.

Being in college is not easy AT ALL! You have fewer classes, but professors don’t consult with each other. So it is likely that you’ll have a project due in 2 classes, and a test in the other 4. Am I complaining? No!

I’m very fortunate to be in such a prestigious and empowering environment. But come on! When do I sleep? You don’t! Ha ha! Just kidding! This is when time management is so important. Know your list of things that need to be done, and put them in order of their importance. For example, you have school work, a job, organization meetings,  and you must have some sort of social life. School comes first; because that’s the only reason you’re here!

Before class one day, my friend Madison happened to look down and notice a stray paper sitting on a lonesome desk. Normally unattended papers get tossed without a passing glance, but not this time. Nope. This time, Madison read the handout and saved it to pass on to me. I have no idea what class the handout is from or who wrote any of it, but its contents are so incredible that I feel compelled to share them with you.

Big Red Rally is a campus tradition around here – every year, the week before the first home football game, the student body shows up to support OU Athletics. It just happened last Friday and it was a ton of fun! (This year was different because technically the first home game was against BYU, but Big Red Rally was before the first game we actually played in Norman.)

Most high school seniors are busy starting the college/university admission application process.  Some of you know exactly where you will apply; others of you are still trying to decide.  I think deciding to what colleges and universities to apply is a lot like looking for songs for your iPod.

I’m nearly speechless. It’s 6 PM on Sunday and I am two days ahead on my homework. Usually about this time I am frantically chugging down some enlightened individual’s voluminous chapters for Monday’s classes. You see, for two of my first classes of the week I have ten books to read over the course of the semester. This tends to decrease the time I spend doing really important things, like playing Restaurant City on facebook and snooping around the blogosphere.

Jay Shuster, Art Director at Pixar, spoke at OU about his experiences working on Star Wars Episode I, Cars and Wall-E. We were not allowed to take photos during the lecture itself, so many photographers and students tried to get as many shots in at the beginning as possible.

Last October, a few of us Visual Communications students got to miss class for a day and venture to Tulsa, OK to see Jay Shuster's lecture at the Philbrook Museum. Sure, it was the exact same lecture as the one last week, but it still kept me laughing. At the lecture in Tulsa, we were all given posters with a car Jay had designed. Here, my friend Lisa Phan is getting that same poster signed... a whole year later.
