September 24-28, three MPGE students (Bryce Fugate ,Kirke Suter, and Faye Reiley) along with one Energy Management student (Avery Marczewski) represented OU at the Alberta Energy Challenge (AEC). The AEC is an international business case competition hosted by the University of Alberta in Edmonton. This year’s competition included twelve teams from four countries. After an initial round of competition, three teams were selected as finalists to make another presentation. With their third place win, Team OU was the only non-Canadian team to place, and it also marked OU’s first-time placing at the event. In addition to the competition, Team OU toured the oil sands at Cenovus’ Christina Lake SAGD operations and took in some of the Canadian wilderness.
